Tupac Book Annotation

  My book was about the notorious rapper Tupac and what has happened during his childhood, adulthood, and his career as a rapper. Afeni was a single mother and Tupac had a sister named Sekyiwa. Tupac and his sisters dad's left them with the mom and they had to live in rundown apartments in New York City. Later in Tupac's life he got to preform with a popular rap group and he then started to record his own music but at the age 25 he was fatally shot in a car and died six days later in the hospital.

   "On June 16, 1971, Afeni Shakur gave birth to a healthy baby boy and she named him Tupac Amaru Shakur. He is also known as the notorious rapper Tupac he was born in East Harlem, New York City. His name Tupac means "shining serpent". Amaru was the name of a powerful king of the Inca empire in South America".This passage was interesting to me because it showed the background of his name and what it meant. I didn't know his name had a meaning and that it had history behind it, that is something new I learned.

     So far I learned that Tupac was raised in East Harlem, New York City which was known as Spanish Harlem. I have also learned that Tupac means "shining serpent". I also learned that his middle name "Amaru" was the name of a powerful South American king in the Inca Empire.I have learned that he was attacked and robbed but survived the attack but went to court in a wheel chair. The last thing I learned from this book is that Tupac has music that have not been released after his death and his mother went to court against Death Row Records (The record label Tupac was signed with) so Tupac's mother can keep all his un-released music and release it when she wants with the help of a few people

     

Gratitude Blog

     I am grateful for many things in my life, there are things that many kids want that I have that's one thing im grateful. I am very grateful for my parents because there are people who don't have their real parents or there parents are dead. They help me with homework and they explain to me different things in life like how to be successful in school and how I can make my way up to buying a car and house. Because of them I think im becoming a better student than I was before.They provide for me and help me with any problems I have in school, friends, life etc.

   I am also very grateful for my friends, although they haven't helped me as much as my parents they have still helped me with many things. When they have family, friend, school problems I invite them to my house so they can get their mind off of the problem and talk to then about it. Although we get into discussions a lot I am still very grateful for them. Sometimes I invite them to my house to have fun or do something like going to McDonald's or to watch a movie. We invite each other to places with our family's whether we will be eating or watching a movie in the teather. We always have fun no matter what, I hope I can still be friends with these people in high school.

     I am lastly very grateful for my teachers, they have helped move forward in my life and in school. They have also made me into the student I am today. I have become a much happier, organized, and responsible student through the years I have been in school although I still have time to go in school I have learned different things that I will definitely use more and in the future.

Gallery Walk Reflection

     Today during class we had a gallery walk in which people had to look for articles that are important for the world to know about. There were many different types of stories ranging from diseases in potatos to 2,000 planets being discovered. One such article was about kid's in India being lured by adults while the parents are not home. They were being forced to do hard labor and they might never be seen again by their families.

     Another article that stood out to me was about scientists going into homes and looking for specific species of bugs. In the homes they found more than 600 species of insects, bugs, and spiders. The scientists are studying this even further to find out if they are the reasons people get allergies.These articles are interesting and there are more articles to talk about.

Election Reflection

     The Elections are very good for our country so one person won't stay in charge it is very intense if you are very into politics.This years elections weren't very good as in choices , one of our choices was a buisness man with no political experience, is racist, and lies about the things he will do. Our other choice is a ex-first lady that doesn't lie much, but she is under investegation by the FBI for apparently revealing the U.S secrets with other people and leaders through email.

     The results to me personally were disappointing because our two choice's are bad but one is worst than the other. Our country elected a buissness man with no political experience and will get us into World War 3. He might do somethings right but most of the time he might not make the right choices for our country. He wants to kick out a specific race of people from our country but that would be deafeating the purpose of being in the United States. The whole reason other races came here was to have freedom and have a sustainable lifestyle better than the one before.

     I will not be voting the next time the election comes around, but when I do get to vote I will partly be excited to take part In a nations decesion for the next United States president. I will be not excited if our desicions aren't bad I really hope that Michelle Obama runs for president in 2020. The Obamas were very different from our previous presidents. They are very relaxed when they are around people but when it comes to the Worlds problems Obama makes the right decisions.There will never be someone like Obama

Revised Story

         On October 22 , 2016 around 8pm eyewitnesses tell us that there were 2 cars (Nissan Gtr , Toyota Skyline) we're racing at breack neck speed on a highway that leads to Downtown Chicago in the afternoon. The witnesses say the 2 male figures were going at about 85 mph , on a sign in the highway it said the maximum you can go was 70 mph. This exceeded the limit , they were later caught by highway patrol.

       They might of been charged for speeding we do not know yet.They probably did it for fun or for money, we don't know yet. These types of things happen all the time on the highway, this incident is one of many to come in the future. To prevent this in the future we need to have more highway patrol and have more precautions like lower speed limits.This is a very dangerous situation and it needs to be handled well so in the future incidents like this one do not occur any more.

Veterans Day Poem

Veterans are a key part of history because they experienced it all. All the deadly wars , battles , and missions that people had to be in and risk their lives and well being to protect their country from danger. Veterans are important to their country , they risk their lives and take time out of their lives to protect people they dont even know but they do it for their country. Veterans are supposed to get cared for like they did to our country during their war services

1st Quarter Reflections

The 1st quarter in the school year has just ended and there are many things I as a student can work on in ELA class. In these 10-12 weeks i've been in school I have already learned so much more about writing and reading. I have learned that the world has different styles of reading and writing , the 5w's   And many more things. I personally think my writing has improved way more than how I used to write. I used to write in sentences with 5 words in them and called it a sentence. I used to capitalize random words I still do that but not as much like how I did in the past.

My goals in ELA class is to learn how to use different words in the right ways. I really want to learn new writing techniques and how to make a proper speech for presentations in high school. These are skill I can use in the near future in school for presentations, projects etc. Knowing how to use bigger words, knowing different languages, how to talk properly, and how to punctuate sentences is important for school. It can help you in many different situations in school such as projects and assignments.

My blogs have been improving ever since August in many ways, such as the blogs having more detail and text evidence. Back in August my blogs were short, not very detailed, and didn't provide as  much text evidence like I do now. So overall a few months ago my blogs were very bold and not good but now my blogs have more of everything thanks to Mrs. Larson's teaching. It is important for people like myself to know how to write a blog because in the future we might have to do the same thing as we are doing right now.


                                                                       

Giver Assesment

I think the director changed the beginning of the movie because he wanted people to understand the difference between the 2. The movie started off by introducing their way of life and there rules and how they show the characters and they start building their way up to the conflict of the book. But in the book it starts off by talking about December which we learned in the book was the month of the ceremony and they. This compares to the movie because their talking about something that didn't get explained really well in the movie. The beginning of the book is diving straight into the story and important events in the book . But the movie builds up the conflict slowly

I think the director picking Brenton was a good and bad decision because he kinda seems like he would look like in real life.  But at the time of the movie he was 25 and The girl was 19 so I would've chosen a 14 or 15 year old so it can stay true to the book but it looked way better if  it was a bigger person because it would seem weird for a Teenager taking a baby to elsewhere it's just a little off. I imagined Jonas to be like a 16 year old kid with black hair and a average height and pretty skinny. The director was on point but the age wasn't right

To me the movie made my understanding better for many reasons. One of them is because I need to be showed something visually and most people like it better and prefer it when they get it showed to them because they don't have to picture it in their minds because it's already there.The book goes way more into detail but the movie uses some details to stay true to the book but they are very simple details like the setting , characters , conflict etc.

The Giver Blog

Jonas is a dynamic character because he has changed in the book from the beginning. For example in the beginning of the book,  Jonas only cared for himself and not his “Family Unit” because nobody in the community had emotions and he hadn't been picked as the receiver yet so he had no idea what emotions were , he was like everybody else. When he got picked as receiver he had the chance to learn what emotions were. When Jonas got introduced to Gabriel , Jonas experienced love towards Gabriel and this shows that he has changed since the beginning of the book




The theme of The Givers Jonas cares more about Gabriel more than he cares for himself like at the end of the book Jonas said he loved someone beside himself and that someone was Gabriel. He could tell that Gabriel was gonna be the next receiver but he took Gab Ike with him to escape and to go elsewhere to make everybody understand what he knows because he wants people to know what he knows.
He wants them to understand the meaning of life and a quote he said was on page 105 and it says “it's just that…..without memories it's all meaningless”.
This is a very powerful quote because it's shows that when he received the memories his mindset changed a lot and that's why he is a dynamic character

Memory Moment: Page 1 Air Craft

Guiding Question : Why might this memory be important?
This memory might be important because it's shows that everybody and everyone was scared of the aircraft that was above the community a year ago. Everybody was having a normal day until they see a "Sleek Jet" hovering above the community and Jonas was squinting and saw the same jet the opposite side of the community and he heard a loud blast half a second later. They are scared of jets because they don't see aircrafts very often as they should be if they lived in our world. The only time they see planes of any sort is when people occasionally bring supplies to help the community.
While reading The Giver by Louis Bwry there have been a few references to the jet accident a year back. Such as this one in a Chapter 1 pg. 2
Quote: "Reasuring now and less urgent had explained that a pilot in training had misread his navigational instructions and made a wrong turn.



Why might this again and again be important?
This again and again might be important because The characters in the story keep mentioning December at any time and throught the story I've been wondering what is so important in the month of December. But as I read the book I found out that December is when they do Ceremony's for some odd reason there wasn't much detail as there should be.While reading The Giver by: Lois Bwry there have been several memories shared by the main character , Jonas one such memory is when he talks about December.
