Aow Nazi Survivors

Back when Adolf Hitler was in power the Nazis launched an operation called Children's Transport  and it was when children were transported to other places and left the concentration camp. The survivors of the Holocaust and the Children's transport share their story's and experiences of being and witnessing WW2 and the Nazis treating them badly.

The central idea of the article is that we can learn about diffrent peoples experiences in WW2 and how they were treated by Nazis. One important message I found in the article is that even though they were treated badly they were still able to get through the holocaust and grateful to be one of the few to survive the horrible event.

The pictures fall into the category of being primary because the people were actually there during the Holocaust and also they also have objects from the past when they were in the concentration  camp like ID's and pictures of the camps.

Quarter 2 Reflections

This quarter I have definitely improved from quarter one. In quarter one I didn't want to do my Ixl's and do my homework and I was falling behind in my classes especially in Ela. When it was the day I had to go talk to my teachers with my mom about my school work I was doing really well in every class except in Ela. I got nervous what my teacher was gonna say to my mom and after I sat with my teacher I started doing even better in my other classes.

Something I accomplished after new year was very stressful at the time. I got accepted into the High School I wanted to go to. All of my cousins have gone to that school and the one that started the tradition is currently in College or University I'm not sure but she's doing really well. My goal is that graduate High School and go study something after High School but I haven't thought about what I wanted to do. It is a really good school and I didn't think I was gonna get into that school. But I am very proud of myself for doing well in school and to get accepted into one of Chicago's best schools.

The hardest part of quarter 2 was getting my school work and homework done and get good grades. I dont know how I did this quarter hopefully I did well, I think this is the hardest I've worked in school. This quarter I actually tried to get good grades and do school. Hopefully I succeeded and did good this quarter. I wanted the high school to see good grades from me so they could accept me because the school is strict and it's also a college prep which makes it a little bit harder so I needed to learn and know more stuff to get me prepared for High School.

Robberies In Cities

12.19.16
“Robberies in Cities”

A woman by the name of Amy Diaz was robbed a few years ago and also in her childhood church she witnessed people getting robbed. I interviewed her about her experiences. This is what she said,“Robberies are a big problem in cities around the world. My family and I have experienced robberies well.. it could happen for many reasons, people might do it because they have a necessity and others do it out of a bad habit.” I asked her what her experiences were like and she responded with “I've had a couple, when I was younger and lived in Puerto Rico, while in church druggies used to sneak in and robbed the ladies purses of course being of a young age I was scared; also about 7 years ago our garage got robbed by two individuals whom crashed into the garage with their car and took everything that was in it”.

According to The Chicago Tribune the amount of violent, property, and quality of life robberies have gone down since 2006. The year 2006 was the year were those types of robberies were at the most  but through the years the crimes have gone down. In that year the stats for violent crimes was at about 3,500 reports but now it's at about 2,750. For property crimes they used to be at 12,200 but now they are at about 8,100. Lastly for quality of life crimes they used to be at 10,500 but now it is at 3,900. For people who don't know these types of crimes, violent crimes are when people use violence to get what they want like money, expensive jewelry etc. Property crimes are when a person steals things from a person's house and the owner may not be home so they will not be forced too because they are not home. Lastly, a quality of life crime is when people are people ruin the well being of other people loiter and gang activity.

Instances of robbery this month so far. There were three men were arrested and he bail was put at $90,000. Two days ago three men were in their car and they spotted a lone woman walking in a alley and they pulled up and put the car in front of the woman to block her path. The men then proceeded to get out of the car and proclaim they had a weapon and demanded the woman to give them her belongings. A nearby friend of the victim took a picture of the license plate and sent it to police. The police later pulled the car to the side of the road and were charged with other things besides robbery and having firearms. They probably robbed from her because they felt the need to have money or because they wanted to threaten someone for fun.

On December 11, 2016 in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles a man was carjacked from his Mercedes Benz by three men. He was driven to his home and two of the men went inside of the man's home and took money and objects with value. The other man was inside the car with the tied victim waiting for the robbers to finish. When the robbers got to the car they went to a parking lot and fled the car on foot with the victim tied up and left inside the car with the engine on. Two out of the three robbers are in police custody as of now but the other robber is yet to be found. This probably happened because the man had a luxury car and he was probably rich so that's why the men targeted him. This sounds like something that would happen in Grand Theft Auto.

The last instance of a robbery happened in the south side of Chicago, which was on the December first. There was an Ups worker delivering packages to houses and two men walk towards him. They held the driver at gunpoint and took a majority of packages out of the back and left. The driver was unharmed but there have been no people in custody or suspected. The two men probably did this because they wanted to see what was in the boxes and if there was anything good they would of stole it. Robberies take away these Human Rights; Article 17 and Article 3.

We can reduce crime even more if people stay off the streets and we have more patrol in alleys and dark areas in the city or suburbs. Most of the crimes happen in dark places, and alleys.

Goosebumps

The book I am reading is called Goosebumps written by R.L Stine and the genre is fiction. The book takes place in a place called Wheeler Falls. The main characters names are Stephanie Alpert and  Duane Comack and they call themselves the "Twins of Terror" so they must be siblings but they live across the street from each other and trade lunches with each other at school even thought their parents pack the same things for them. They both go out at night and put on masks to go scare kids by going to their windows and staring at them or leaving rubber body parts and sometimes the kids are to scared to leave their houses.

The two kids love to scare people but they refuse to go around "The Hill House" because it's haunted. It was built two hundred years ago by a sea captain. In that house they have tours which are guided by a man named Otto and on Halloween night the kids decided to go check out the inside of the Hill House and they join a tour with Otto and go inside the building and the kids separated from the group to go look for stuff to do in the Hill House.

While they are in there they find a head which belonged to a boy that was their and the ghost of the captain decapitated the boy and left the boy to go find his head and has been there ever since going room to room every Halloween night but the kids did not know this so they kept looking around the house and they got scared and they left the house to see cops in the driveway and the kids told the cops that they were on tour and the cops told the children that the tours have been closed for 3 months and the kids turn around to see Otto holding a lantern and not alive.

I liked this book because it's a scary type of books and I like books like that because sometimes they can be scary or they can be scary but funny to read them. I would recommend this book to people that like scary movies and funny books cause it's was a mix of both genres and the part I remember most was the end when Otto was revealed to be a ghost.
